Taking Delivery
When it is the day for picking up your new car, do not be too laid back otherwise you may regret it.
Ensure you arrive on time. Make sure you inspect the car prior to parting with any money or completion of any paperwork.
Any inspection of the car needs to be done in light, bright weather conditions otherwise you will not spot any bodywork problems. Should you be purchasing from a garage, take delivery of the car. However, request it to be recorded on the sales invoice that you were not been able to adequately examine the car.
Take a walk around the car, check the corners of the car as well as body panels and windows.
Ensure the car appears as specified and that everything you expected is present. Should you be buying a used car, check everything is in correct working order.
Should you be buying from a dealer, ensure that any accessories requested have been fitted.
Should the car be a new one, check that the pre-delivery inspection (PDI) has been carried out; a stamp in the service book will reflect this.
Ensure you have both sets of keys, particularly if you are buying privately.
