How does the Car Scrappage Scheme work?
For a consumer to be a part of the scrappage scheme, both their car and the dealership the wish to purchase from must qualify and meet the criteria of the scheme.
When a new car has been selected from a scheme registered dealership, and a sale has been agreed, the dealer will arrange for the old vehicle to be collected and scrapped. Once this has been completed the £2000 discount will be taken off the price of the new car. This benefits both the consumers and the motor industry.
The scrappage scheme has been based on a model currently in progress in Germany which has reportedly seen a 40 percent increase in new car sales.
