September will see the launch of Hondas new executive car, the Legend saloon .
The new Legend will boast a 291bhp V6 engine with an advance four wheel drive system, a safety kit and the latest equipment.
Buyers can expect to pay £36,250 for the EX version which comes with cruise control, leather upholstery, climate control, electronically adjustable seats, satellite navigation, and a CD multi-changer.
However for £39,000 the car will come with Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) and the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS).
ADAS is a safety device which helps to keep tired drivers in the right lane by gently steering the car to stay between the white lines and it sends out an audible warning if the driver starts to lane wander. A radar cruise control system is part of the ADAS which adjusts the cars speed to the speed of the car in front.
CMBS system with the aid of the radar alerts the driver to potential collisions. It sends out a warning and applies the brakes. Should the driver not react the braking will get heavier and the seatbelts will tighten to reduce any injury risks.
This is the first time since 2001 that Honda is launching an executive car and they realise that breaking back into that market will be a challenge. Another possible drawback is that Honda has not created a diesel version of the car. Honda, however remain optimistic and hope to sell 400 of the Legends a year.
