The name Betsy is one of the most popular names for Brits to call their cars, reveals a survey from an insurance company.
According to Lloyds TSB Insurance, one in five Brits treasure their motors so much, they feel the need to give them a nickname.
Questioning drivers up and down the country, the insurance provider found the top ten names given to cars included Babe, Tiggy, Charlie, Herbie and Digby.
Gary Hurry from the insurance provider commented that with people's growing reliance on their cars, it is no wonder they've ended up giving them names.
"School runs, long weekends, daily commutes - and traffic jams, mean we're all spending more time than ever in our cars. And the more time we spend with them, the more attached we seem to grow," he said.
He went on to say that drivers who have a real attachment to their vehicles could be well advised to make sure they have an adequate insurance policy to protect their treasured car from damage.
