Jaguar has released the first official pictures and pricing of its eagerly awaited XF sports saloon, ahead of its unveiling at next months Frankfurt Motor Show .
Prices for the car range from £33,900 for the 2.7-litre V6 Luxury diesel to £54,900 for the 4.2-litre V8 petrol supercharged SV8 model . The pricing strategy is thought to have been constructed with the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes' E-class in mind.
Orders for the new model are already being taken by Jaguar's UK dealer network with showroom display cars expected to arrive in January 2008, while customers can expect to get their hands on the XF by March next year.
The launch is expected to brighten the mood within Jaguar, as the company faces being sold, along with brother company Land Rover, by parent company Ford .
The brand is already boasting class leading residual values for the range with Cap and EurotaxGlass's quoting 50 per cent returns after 36 months/36,000 miles for the 2.7-litre Luxury trim mode l.
Martin Ward, Cap's manufacturer relationship manager, commented: "The new XF has not only caught up with its nearest competitors but it has now overtaken them."
"Jaguar has proved that a well built, well specified and well priced car that has fantastic styling can break the mould and should be a success the world over."
Kevin Gaskell, chief executive for EurotaxGlasss, described the car as offering a "class-leading package".
"We have concluded that it will be a desirable car with best-in-class residual values," he said.
