Mazda has unveiled its brand new 6 - the model aimed at being the companys answer to the new Ford Mondeo .
The Mazda 6 gets a slick new face lift, which helps set it apart from the family car crowd. The small headlights complete with neat xenon bulbs give it a fearsome look, while the grille is similar to that of the 2 supermini, although it is distinguished by a large Mazda badge in the centre and is more prominent.
The front of the car is completed by a low bumper with integrated foglamps, while the red bonnet, which helps the newcomer to comply with pedestrian impact regulations, is particularly reminiscent of Fords latest Mondeo .
The similarities dont stop there. The inside of the car is based on the same platform as the Mondeo, which means the revised Mazda will be much bigger than its predecessor.
The cabin will also include a chrome finish on the instrument dials and higher-quality materials on the dashboard. The 6 will deliver driver-focused handling, according to insiders at the company, while the engines are set to be tuned to deliver more power and lower emissions .
Car buyers will have a choice of hatch, saloon and estate models, just as they did with the outgoing car and will be happy to hear that the manufacturer promises better build quality.
The 6 will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month and should be ready to go on sale in the UK early next year. Prices will remain similar to the current range - starting from around £15,000.
