Porsche unveiled its first hybrid prototype at the Los Angles Auto Show, which took place last week.
The Cayenne Hybrid prototype was presented to car enthusiasts by the German sports carmaker, who stated that the car will achieve a fuel economy of more than 30 mpg as well as lower emissions due to its Full-Parallel-Hybrid System .
The new system includes an electric motor and clutch integrated within the drivetrain, which Porsche claims ensures greater compatibility with all-wheel drive technology and as a result the car will be lighter than rival models .
The luxury-sports carmaker hopes that the Cayenne Hybrid will be available to European customers before the end of this decade.
The Porsche stand at the LA motor show also featured one of its older cars - the electric-drive Lohner-Porsche, which was originally launched over 100 years ago.
Porsche claims the classic model was one of the world's first zero emission vehicles and, accordingly, a forerunner of hybrid drive technology.
