Sales of second hand superminis are soaring due to an increase in demand for economical cars by UK buyers, a new study has revealed.
According to new research by EurotaxGlasss, prices of used superminis are (on average) increasing throughout Britain, although prices vary significantly across different regions - a factor which is reflected in the Midlands region, where prices are at their cheapest.
Average asking prices for B-segment models vary by as much as 10 per cent across the UK .
The research by EurotaxGlasss calculated that asking prices for small three-year-old cars in the Midlands averaged at £5,500 - £350 less than in the south west, where asking prices were found to be the highest.
Adrian Rushmore, managing editor at EurotaxGlasss, commented: "These regional differences in asking prices are affected by local patterns of supply and demand, as well as by the willingness of prospective buyers to travel to make a purchase."
"To secure the best deals, it is clear that consumers must be willing to look outside their local area," he added.
