Ford has once again been awarded with a car-of-the-year title, this time picking up the award for Used Car of the Year for its Ford Focus RS model at the inaugural Auto Trader Used Car Awards .
The Focus RS was also voted the winner in the hot hatch subcategory, beating off strong competition from the Honda Civic Type-R, which came in second.
Other winners at the event included Mitsubishis Ralliart FTO, which scooped Best Used Sports Car ahead of the Honda S2000 and Mazda RX-8, which came second and third place respectively, while the Jaguar XJ Series won the luxury category.
The Rover 75 won the award for Best Used Family Car; the Audi A2 won the supermini award, while the BMW X5 took home the Best Used SUV title.
The unique event saw nearly 7,000 votes entered by UK motorists, with no panel of motor critics and judges involved in the process.
Host of the awards ceremony Jason Dawe commented: "I believe that these awards are special because the owners and drivers of used cars in the UK have decided them not a panel of journalists, critics and motor industry 'gurus."
