Subaru Unveils New Impreza WRX STi

Thu, 11 Oct 2007

Subaru has finally revealed the first glimpses of its brand new Impreza WRX STi performance car .

The first pictures of the Impreza reveal its flared wheel-arches, large bumpers, a new grille, rear spoiler and multi-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels – all of which helps differentiate it from the 1.5 and 2.0 litre five-door hatchback released earlier in the year.

The hot hatch is due to be officially unveiled with full performance details to the press at the Tokyo motor show later this month, while a launch date of March 2008 has been set for the car .

Prices are expected to start at around £30,000, although car buyers looking for something a little less expensive can opt for a slightly less powerful WRX Impreza, which goes on sale next month for £19,995.

In addition, the Japanese carmaker has also released details of a range of concept cars that will be shown off in Tokyo at the end of the month.

The first in line is the Exiga Concept car, which is described as resembling a larger Legacy estate . However, first images of the car reveal a size more in line with a Mercedes R-Class rather than a big estate car .

The seven-seater MPV is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine controlled by a five-speed automatic gearbox. It also features a panoramic roof that goes all the way back to the tailgate.

Subaru’s second concept car is the eco-friendly G4e. The five-seater hatch is powered by lithium-ion batteries stored underneath the floor and is also expected to have a range of 200km.
