New research has revealed that men in the UK are more infatuated with their cars than their female counterparts.
According to a study from website fish4cars, one in three men spend almost £20,000 on car extras such as alloys, spoilers and novelty wing mirrors, during their lifetime.
However, men were found to be less likely to splash the cash on their cars than women, who on average purchase a car-related gift once every two months.
British males also admitted to lavishing more time on their vehicles than their other halves, with 44 per cent of the men polled saying they had given their car some TLC within the past fortnight, while one in five spent more than two hours cleaning and polishing their vehicles .
Fish4cars chief executive, Joe Slavin, commented: "It is a sad story to hear that some men enjoy spending time cleaning and tinkering with their cars more than wining and dining their loved ones."
