Jaguar has unveiled the XF saloon at the Frankfurt Motor Show currently taking place.
The new model will replace the hugely successful S-Type and is likely to be viewed as an exciting prospect, not only for car buyers, but by those interested in buying the Jaguar company .
The brand's classy new edition is expected to rival the BMW 5 Series . The car was expected to have been made entirely of aluminium, but prohibitive costs led to the firm switching to steel.
It remains to be seen whether the car's sales appeal will still be able to lure Jaguar enthusiasts, as the model casts off its traditional wood and leather image.
Meanwhile Ford, which remains Jaguar's parent for the time being, is to replace its big selling Fiesta supermini with a car strongly resembling the Verve concept model - currently the star of its 2007 Frankfurt Show stand.
The three door model, expected to include a coupe-like profile, uses styling elements similar to the Mondeo, particularly the front light clusters and nose treatment .
The new Fiesta is expected to enter the market as a less practical offering than the current car and will share its sub-structure with the latest Mazda 2.
