The value of second hand soft-top/convertible cars have this year reached their lowest amount "in living memory", according to figures from EurotaxGlasss.
The companys managing director, Adrian Rushmore, said asking prices for many second hand convertibles in previous years increased during the spring and early summer in response to increased consumer demand.
But, the same peak-buying period this year had seen soft-top values remain static at best due to a combination of factors, including the miserable weather suffered throughout the UK this summer, which played its part in ceasing the level of demand, and an issue with supply .
Rushmore said: "Dealers report that retail demand for second hand convertibles has been much the same as in recent years, but the increase in supply of cars over the last few years has meant that buyers of these models now have a greater choice than ever."
"Consequently we have not seen the seasonal price hikes which have become an established feature of the market ."
"What seems clear is that price rises of up to 10 per cent during the spring and early summer are now a thing of the past," he added.
