Nearly 70 per cent of second-hand car buyers who use the internet feel "more vulnerable" to the risks of buying online, new research has revealed.
A survey by the HPI vehicle checking organisation found that some 62 per cent of consumers admitted to being put off by the risk of fraud, while two out of three said they were unhappy at not being able to see a car in person.
HPI director Nick Lindsay said the survey "reveals that car buyers are wary when buying online" .
But respondents did identify some positive aspects of online car buying, with 71 per cent suggesting that the internet offered a wider choice of vehicles, and 63 per cent citing convenience as a major benefit .
