Volkswagen is considering plans to expand its SUV line-up with the addition of a new medium-sized model, according to new reports.
Motoring publication Autocar has revealed the German carmaker may introduce a seven-seat offering to sit between its recently-launched Tiguan and the larger Touareg models .
The report adds that VW is re-evaluating its SUV range following criticism of the Tiguan by American car dealers that claim the car is too small and expensive for the US market .
The new SUV could go on sale by 2011 as a direct rival to Volvo's XC60 and may be built on a modified version of the next-generation Passat .
