The Audi A3 Cabriolet has been voted as women’s ‘Car of The Year’ in the latest awards by car-buying website evecars.com.

The stylish car topped a shortlist of 27 vehicles across eight categories selected from over 3000 models currently on sale in the UK .

"The Audi A3 won over all the judges with its impressive combination of talents," commented Alex Jenner-Fust, editor of the women’s online car-buying resource.

"It looks great: it's neither too feminine nor flashy, but classy and well styled. It's easy enough to get a child seat in the back and the soft-top roof leaves more boot space than a folding hard top."

"Drivers will be rewarded with almost 40mpg, too. It’s a great all round no-compromise package and truly deserves our top accolade," she concluded.

Audi also claimed top prize in the Best Sports car category with its TT model receiving the most votes .

Other winners in the awards, which focus on what women want in a car, included the Land Rover Discovery, which scooped the 4x4 award, and the Jaguar XF which received the Executive award.

The BMW 318d scooped the Green award for its combination of energy-saving technologies, while Fiat's retro-inspired 500 won the city car category.

The top MPV was awarded to the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso for the second year running and the Hyundai i30 was named the Small Family Car category winner.
