The spiralling costs of fuel in the UK are car buyers main motoring concern for the year, according to a new survey commissioned by Motors.co.uk .
The research found that over 63 per cent of motorists surveyed identified rising fuel costs as their biggest driving worry, with 34 per cent of drivers stating fuel costs will now affect their choice of car .
Over the last 12 months, prices at petrol pumps nationwide have seen record increases, with unleaded petrol currently costing motorists up to a staggering 114.9p a litre in some parts of the country.
Identified as the next most important concern was the impact of congestion, with 21 per cent of motorists saying this was their biggest problem on the road.
The Department of Transport (DfT) has warned that unless immediate action is taken road congestion in Britain could increase by 25 per cent over the next 10 years.
Just under 15 per cent of those polled said their main worry was reducing their carbon emissions by buying more environmentally friendly models .
