BMW have revealed the latest high performance model to its M3 range the M3 Cabrio.
Following on from the coupe and saloon editions, the German firm has launched a topless version of its hugely popular M3, which comes equipped with same 414bhp 4.0-litre V8 as the tin-top version.
Like other 3 Series models, the M3 features a powered folding hard-top. However, BMW have made some changes to its exterior such as the inclusion of flared wheel arches, a bulging bonnet and subtle bodykit of the other M cars .
Also included are aluminium panels to help save weight and reduce the centre-of-gravity. Despite this the car still weighs in at 1,860kg, a full 204kg more than the hard-top version.
The good news for family buyers is that the M3 convertible will comfortably seat four, while still offering exhilarating performance.
Connected to a six-speed manual gearbox, the howling 4.0 litre V8 allows the M3 to sprint from stand-still to 60mph in just 5.3 seconds, while top speed is limited to the usual 155mph.
However, despite the firm's Efficient Dynamics engineering, drivers will still struggle to achieve 21 miles to the gallon.
Bosses at BMW claim the Convertible can still maintain the title of 'Ultimate Driving Machine', as engineers have revised all the suspension settings and reinforced all of the components, meaning the newcomer should be as much fun around corners as its hard-top counterparts.
Prices for the M3 Cabrio are yet to be announced, although insiders have been warned that the car will come with a £6,000 premium over the Coupe version when it goes on sale later this year.
