Renaults UK Launch Date For Dacia Brand Set For Start Of 2009

Renault has confirmed plans to launch Dacia, its budget brand of Romania-produced cars, in the UK next year.

Sales of the brand are planned to start during the first quarter of 2009, although the only Dacia model to initially be sold in Britain will be the Sandero five-door hatchback .

Potential buyers will be able to see the new Sandero model in the flesh when it makes its public UK debut at next month’s British International Motor Show in London .

The stylish Sandero is expected to go on sale for less than £7,500, undercutting the similarly-sized Skoda Fabia and the cars from Korea including the Chevrolet Aveo.

The car will be shown to Renault’s UK dealers next month and the company expects to recruit between 90 and 100 existing staff to form a network for the Dacia sub-brand .
