Volvo has announced the new XC60 will cost from £24,750 when launched this October, undercutting rival models such as BMW's X3 by almost £5000.
The mini 4x4 will be available with a choice of a 281bhp 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine or 161bhp/182bhp turbo-diesels. All models come with Volvo's all-wheel drive system as standard.
With the inclusion of a low-speed crash-avoidance system, lane-departure warning facility and an auto-brake system, the XC60 is being billed as the 'safest Volvo ever.
Buyers will have a choice of three trims: S, SE and SE Lux. The base S trim is only available with the two diesel engines and will start at a price of £24,750. Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, roll-stability control, climate control, cruise control, an auxiliary input on the stereo and remote audio controls.
The SE trim, in addition to the S specification, comes equipped with hill-descent control, an electric driver's seat, folding electric mirrors and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, with prices starting at £26,250.
The SE Lux adds chronographic dials, 18-inch alloy wheels, a leather interior, oak trim, active headlamps, electric heated front seats and a rear park-assist system, all for a starting price of £28,750.
