Volkswagen has unleashed its most powerful Passat to date, the Passat R36 .
The new model, available in both saloon and estate versions, is powered by a 294bhp 3.6-litre V6 engine with 258lb ft of torque.
Controlling the engine is a semi-automatic six-speed gearbox and four-wheel-drive system, which helps the saloon model accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.6secs and the estate in 5.8secs. Top speed is electronically limited to 155mph.
Buyers also get 18-inch alloy wheels, lowered suspension, a new front bumper and twin exhausts as standard, while the interior includes newly designed seats for extra support, alloy-crafted pedals and aluminium styling on the dash.
The Passat R36 is on sale at £30,990 for the entry level saloon and £32,150 for the estate .
