Sales of the new and much-anticipated Ford Focus RS have rocketed over the summer, with a quarter of the UKs allocation already snapped up.
According to Ford, 1000 deposits have been put down on the high-performance Focus RS, despite it still being six months away from launch.
Motorists have been able to put down deposits for the 295bhp, front-wheel-drive car since the British Motor Show in June, even though Ford are yet to finalise the car's specification.
Ford has confirmed, however, that the new RS is powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 302lb ft of torque, enabling it to get from 0 to 60mph in under six seconds and on to a top speed of 155mph.
A total of 8000 RS models will be built, with half expected to go on sale in Britain . Ford said the large allocation was due to the success of the previous-generation Focus RS in the UK, with 2200 models sold in just over a year.
