BMW and Toyota are the top car brands for customer satisfaction, a new survey has revealed.
The carmakers were ranked top of a new UK customer satisfaction index for automotive manufacturers, with both receiving a score of 80 per cent, despite BMW registering the joint-highest number of complaints.
German manufacturer Volkswagen was ranked third for customer satisfaction with 79 per cent, followed by Vauxhall and Ford, which both received 75 per cent.
The survey, carried out by the CFI Group, found owners of Peugeots and Renaults were least satisfied with their motors, with the brands receiving a joint-bottom score of 73 per cent.
BMW and Renault both received the highest number of customer complaints, but it was how each manufacturer dealt with the problems that led to their overall scores. The former gained 17 points on Renault for its score in handling complaints.
Japanese carmaker Toyota was also rated best for brand value, while Ford came out on top for exceeding expectations.
Seri Teodoru, chief executive of the customer satisfaction measurement provider, said: "Brand loyalty can be enhanced amongst consumer based on positive interactions with dealerships and service centres."
"Customer satisfaction will therefore buoy spending and this is especially important in the UK car market right now where spend is low."
