Audi S5 Cabriolet To Arrive In October

Thu, 06 Aug 2009

Audi has announced the launch of a soft-top version of its acclaimed S5 sports car .

Unlike the S5 Coupe, which has a 4.2-litre V8, the S5 Cabriolet is powered by a 328bhp supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine linked to a seven-speed S tronic semi-automatic transmission and Audi’s four wheel drive Quattro system.

The German carmaker said it plans to fit the S5 Coupe with the Cabriolet’s V6 engine at some point in its production lifetime.

The supercharged V6 propels the Cabriolet from 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds – just half a second slower than the S5 Coupe - while top speed is limited to 155mph, as with the Coupe .

In terms of economy, buyers will get an average of 29.1mpg, while CO2 emissions are measured at 224g/km.

Meanwhile, the convertible roof takes 15 seconds to lower and 17 seconds to go back up, and both functions can be completed at speeds of up to 31mph.

Lowered suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels, aluminium-coloured door mirrors and black brake calipers featuring an S5 logo are also included to help the car stand out from Audi’s A5 Cabriolet range.

The S5 Cabriolet will arrive in UK showrooms in October with prices starting from £42,245.
