UK carmakers Ford and Vauxhall are set to increase most of their car prices by around 5 per cent.
Ford confirmed that its entire range will be affected, with prices going up by an average of 4.7 per cent. These include £1,000-plus price rises on Fords Mondeo, S-MAX and Galaxy models.
Rival manufacturer Vauxhall said it is increasing prices on all cars, with the exception of the Vectra and VXR8, by an average of just under 5 per cent.
Both companies said the decision to raise prices was driven by the poor value of the pound against the euro.
As a result, they have also warned that future currency fluctuations could lead to further price rises for Britains car buyers .
Fords revised price list for its entry-level models is as follows:
Ka from £7945 - up £138
Fiesta from £9195 - up £724
Fusion from £11,995 - up £487
