Mitsubishi has launched its own scrappage scheme aimed at car buyers with models under ten years old to trade in.
The company has already signed up to the Government's scrappage scheme for cars over ten years old, but is now offering the same £2000 saving to motorists with cars between five and ten years old (registered between 31st August 1999 and 31st August 2004).
Toby Marshall, director of sales and marketing at Mitsubishi Motors UK, said: "Over 21 per cent of our dealers' May orders have come through the Government's scrappage scheme."
"To help maximise this momentum, we have decided to launch our own scheme, which means a customer can bring in a car as young as five years old to any participating Mitsubishi dealer ."
According to the company, not all cars traded in through its scheme are necessarily scrapped as some could be sold on depending on their second-hand value.
In addition to the scheme, Mitsubishi is also offering car finance packages with deposits as low as 10 per cent and interest at 0 per cent in an effort to lure more buyers through its showroom doors.
