German car giant Volkswagen has revealed the first details of the brand new VW Polo GTi, which is set to be officially unveiled at next month's Geneva motor show .
The latest addition to the famous GTi line is powered by a 177bhp 1.4-litre TSI engine, which is connected to a seven-speed DSG, semi-automatic gearbox .
This gives the mini hot hatch a 0-62mph time of 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 142mph. The car also provides an impressive 47 mpg and has carbon emissions of 139g/km.
As with the current Polo, the Polo GTis styling is similar to that of the larger Golf GTi, with VW adding similar five-spoke polished 17-inch alloys and the same-style honeycomb grille as its Golf counterpart.
In addition, the Polos seats have been made using a similar checked cloth material to the Golf GTi's, and the car also comes with a flat-bottomed steering wheel.
The new Polo GTi will go on sale in the UK in August, according to Volkswagen. Buyers will have the choice of both three and five-door models, with prices starting at around £18,000 for the three-door.
