Ford has announced it is slash prices on its most popular models by up to 11 per cent from the start of next month.
The carmaker, which has already reduced prices once this year, said prices its Fiesta, Focus, Ka and Kuga models will be cut from August 2 in a bid to bring greater 'transparency' to its showroom prices.
List prices are usually heavily discounted through haggling and Ford said it now wants them to be closer to what the customer actually pays.
Nigel Sharp, managing director of Ford UK, explained: "The traditional way that the car industry has operated in the UK with high recommended list prices matched to high discounts is causing confusion for consumers."
"Together with our dealer partners we are determined to change that formula and make the whole purchase process more transparent and the value of Ford cars more obvious."
The company also hopes the new prices will help attract more company car buyers, who pay tax based on the car's list price.
