Lexus Retains Title Of UK Car Owners Top Manufacturer

Lexus has been voted the number one car manufacturer for the 10th year in a row by British motorists.

Despite being plagued by a series of recalls in recent months, the carmaker scored an impressive 846 points out of a possible 1,000 to top the latest UK Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study by JD Power and Associates and What Car?.

The brand scored well in three of the four key measures: vehicle quality and reliability; vehicle appeal, which includes performance, design, comfort and features; and dealer service satisfaction.

In second place was Honda with a score of 825, followed by Jaguar (818), Mercedes-Benz (817) and Toyota (814) – another carmaker that has seen its reputation hit by recalls this year.

At the model level, car owners’ ranked the Lexus RX and IS models the best sports utility vehicle (SUV) and the best compact executive car respectively. Toyota also claimed two awards – one for its Aygo model (best city car) and one for its Yaris (joint best small car alongside the Honda Jazz ).

Other cars that topped the model segments were the Mercedes Benz B-Class (best MPV), the Kia cee'd (best lower medium car), the Honda Accord (best upper medium car), the Jaguar XF (best executive car) and the Mazda MX-5 (best sports car ).

The 2010 UK Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study (VOSS) is based on the evaluations of more than 17,000 online interviews from British car owners after an average of two years of ownership.
