MG Dealers To Start Taking Orders For New MG6

Wed, 20 Apr 2011

MG dealerships in the UK have collected the first UK production of the all-new MG6 car, marking the start of a new era for the iconic brand.

The dealers collected the first batch of the new MG - the first new model for 16 years - from the MG Motor UK factory in Birmingham and will now start taking formal orders for the car. First deliveries of the MG6 will begin next month.

The MG6 is a 1.8-litre turbocharged sports car that comes with the choice of three trims – the entry-level S model, the SE and the range-topping TSE. Prices range from £15,495 to £18,995 for the highly-equipped TSE model.

Buyers will also be happy to hear that the car has particularly low levels of insurance . The 1.8T S is rated 13 while the SE and TSE come under insurance group 14, making them relatively cheap to protect.

The MG6 was designed and engineered by a team of 300 professionals at the Longbridge plant. The first car off the production line was a red MG6 and was driven by the plant's only female factory worker, Lisa Ponter.

"It is great to see cars coming off the line again. It's been too long and hopefully more people will be employed here," she said.
