Korean car manufacturer Kia has announced that it will be releasing a three-door version of the popular Picanto city car in September.

Trim levels 1 and 1 Air will be available with Kia’s 1-litre 68bhp engine, which with emissions of 99g/km of CO2 will be tax-free, while the Halo and Equinox models come with an eco-friendly 89bhp 1.25-litre engine .

Standard features on all versions include a trip computer, a RDS radio and CD player with MP3 compatibility power steering and a host of safety features such as electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock brakes (ABS) and emergency brake assist system (BAS).

Picanto Halo and Equinox models add USB and AUX ports, an iPod cable, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, Bluetooth connectivity with voice recognition, auto lights, LED rear lights and a red front grille.

Extra stand-out features of Halo Picanto’s include 14-inch alloys, heated front seats and steering wheel, alloy pedals and a white dashboard, while Equinox versions get 15-inch alloys, air-con, red upholstery, a glossy black dashboard and gearknob, and stop start technology.

Prices for the new three-door Picanto will start from £7795 and rise to £11,695 for the Halo and Equinox variants.
