First Audi A1 Sportbacks To Arrive Next Spring

Audi dealerships across the UK will start taking orders for the new A1 Sportback later this month, with first deliveries of the five-door, five-seater hatchback expected in spring 2012.

The A1 Sportback will come with a £560 premium over each equivalent three-door model, with prices ranging from £13,980 to £21,270.

Buyers will have a choice of four engines from launch: 1.2 TFSI petrol, 1.4 TFSI petrol, 1.4 TFSI twin-charge petrol and a 1.6 TDI diesel unit. A 2.0 TDI diesel engine will be available next summer.

The new Mini-rival is 6mm wider and 6mm taller than the three-door Audi A1, offering slightly more head room and shoulder room inside, as well as space for three passengers in the back.

Trim options come in three familiar guises – SE, Sport and S-Line – with all Sportback models getting alloys, remote locking, AirCon, electric windows and mirrors and a single CD Concert Audio system with 6.5-inch retractable display.

Sport model additions include larger 16-inch wheels, sports suspension, sports seats, Bluetooth mobile phone preparation and a Driver's Information System, while S line versions come with an exclusive S line exterior treatment including larger 17-inch alloy wheels, S line sports suspension and leather and cloth combination upholstery.

Customers will also be able to choose from a range of additional options including Xenon plus headlights with LED daytime running lights and LED tail lights, climate control, heated front seats, auto lights and wipers, cruise control, full leather upholstery, digital audio tuner and a 465-watt Bose surround sound system with 14 speakers.
